Good grief yes!
All my email goes out that way for a start. I manage lots of domains and use a mail client which
allows me to easily switch identities and send mail out as somebodyr@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
with a matching reply-to address.
For convenience nearly all the e-mail addresses I use are configured to forward the mail to the
ISP mailbox to simplify collection, and all mail is sent out using my local ISP mail server. This
daft proposal would put a stop to that right away.
In fact something like that did happen last month when my ISP introduced a spam filter system
which initially was configured to reject all mail not sent to or from an address in their domain.
Naturally every business in the area with their own domain name but using the local ISP for net
access suddenly found their mail wouldn't work - mine included.
It only lasted one day as tech support were inundated with complaints. One techie told me they
hadn't realised so many people used their own domains!
Cheers,
Neil
