Well, fist check to make sure your 3i does not have an Intel ROM.
If it does have an Intel ROM, you have to replace it with an AMD ROM,
might as well use one programmed for RaQ550, we use 2.10.1.rom

If it doesn't have an Intel ROM, then continue.
Then use a RaQ550 OSRCD, to install the OS
The LCD will prompt you for 'hardware', select RaQ3
When you are prompted to reset, power down
power-up and go back to 'boot from net' to continue the restore process.
Now your RaQ3i is a slow RaQ550.

For processor upgrades, we are now recommending K6-2+/450ACZ, K6-2+/500ACZ
or K6-2+/550ACZ. These processors have low power consumption and run with a
2.0V core.

To use any of these processors on a RaQ3/i, you need to change the core
voltage to 2.0V. RaQ3/i's have 2.2V core voltage configured.
As I posted earlier;
The core voltage jumpers are to the left of the LCD connector on the
motherboard (as viewed from the front of the server)
There are 5 core-voltage jumpers.
     R200-E  R199-D  R198-C  R197-B  R196-A
2.2V                           |
2.0V    |      |       |       |
the "|" means that a jumper is installed.
2.2V only uses the jumper R197-B
2.0V uses R197-B  R198-C  R199-D  R200-E

Next you need to configure the multiplier jumpers, they are to the right
of the LCD connector on the motherboard.
There are 3 multiplier jumpers.
      R209-P, R208-N, R207-M
300MHz          |

550MHZ  |
the "|" means that a jumper is installed.
300MHz R208-N
450MHz R209-P R208-N R207-M
500MHZ R209-P R208-N
550MHz        R208-N R207-M
