My latest stereo receiver, just out of warranty (of course) just went
south (only weird low-frequency chirps come out of the speakers when
attempting to listen to FM), and I'm seriously considering creating a
stereo system out of entirely "NT" (new technology) parts:
A clone PC, a DVD player, a CDROMRW, about 40 - 80 GB of hard disk, a
great sound card, an FM tuner board, a TV-tuner board, a video-out
graphics card, a wireless kb, laser-mouse-pointer, and a good speaker
system. Portable (Walkman-style) tape, too, plugged into the sound
card.
All parts replaceable when they break.
Anyone done that?
Jeff
