[cobalt-users] mod_gzip problems - what have I missed?

I've recently added mod_gzip.so to a number of servers, however, I'm found that any .htaccess protected folders simply come up with an Internet Explorer "Page can not be displayed" error.

I compiled the mod_gzip on the RAQ, and used the following included into httpd.conf, I've also tried it in srm.conf, same error:

any idea what I need to change to fix the .htaccess protected folders from failing?

thanks
