[cobalt-users] RE: Raq2 Updates

I also installed all of the updates and the most recent update gave me a
problem. We are an ISP and I did the update and it said I needed to reboot,
so I did. It took over 20 minutes for the raq to come back up? I have no
clue whats going on . Now I am afraid to reboot the raq again because I am
not sure if it will come back up again or not. I also am having some little
problems since the updates but I am not sure if it is related to the actual
updates or not.

if you put your extra VirtualHosts in separate files and include these
("Include /etc/httpd/conf/extra.conf"), everything is fine.

That never happend to me. But I always put extra VirtualHosts in
separate files and just use Include.

If cobalt is listening... maybe it's time that all of these patches and
fixes be combined into a single new RaQ2 OS release? Would make things a
whole lot easier.

You can check (as root) with: rpm -q glibc

Did you rebuild the aliases database? ("newaliases" as root will do that)

I've been told that the RaQ3 can only have one SSL certificate per machine
and other sites that use it will have to be piped through the main domain.
Is this true? If it is, do I have to create a subdirectory in the main site
(i.e. - https://www.site1.com/site2/) for the other site that needs SSL? If
I try to run the other site through SSL (i.e. - https://www.site2.com) I get
errors about the domain name being different form the one the cert is
registered to.

Hi,

This looks like the same problem we have come across lately.
We found that even though we checked off "Accept Email for Domain" for
the domain to receive email, it didn't. So we unchecked it, and
manually entered it in the hosts/domains aliases.
That seemed to make it work, but I don't feel comfortable with this
solution. It more like rolling dice to see which combination worked.
What else is affected by that checkbox, anyway?
And what is the truly 'proper' cobalt way to put IPs/domains in the
Relay and Aliases boxes of the Email Parameters administration?

This was for a virtual host on a RaQ3i. We would like this to be
more predictable before we migrate more websites.

Thanks for any help.

Some updates only work correctly when the previous updates are installed!

We have a Qube 2700WG, which is used as our mail server. An important
feature of the mail service for us is the ability to forward mail and keep a
copy on the server. I'd like to do other things with it, such as run an
LDAP service and DHCP, but am hesitant about installing these, due to my
inexperience with Linux, Perl, etc. - I'm learning more as I have
opportunity, given my other responsibilities.

We also have a Qube2, which is used only as an FTP server outside our
firewall - I know it has many improved features over the 2700WG, including a
DHCP server. I'd like to swap the machines, but the Qube2 falls down on not
being able to forward mail and keep a copy on the server.

And, in my testing of the Qube2, I was not happy with the way it handled
mail to groups and mailing lists. I've gathered from this "cobalt-users"
list that I needed to be patient, ie. wait for half-an-hour for it to be
delivered - not really acceptable after not having to wait with the 2700WG.
And then, I gather, the reply address for those is not the sender, but the
group or mailing list - again, not acceptable. Mail clients allow "reply to
all" to get the latter effect - but that causes problems when the reply
address is not the sender, as noted many times in the past by this
"cobalt-users" list.

Regards, Rob Evans

hi all,
I've been browsing the cobalt list in search for this answer. I've seen
the qestion being asked several times, but no answer.

Maybe somebody got it working, the question is:

I installed SSL on a rqa2 for our main site, and it works really good, now
I got a certificate for a virtual site, but I haven't been able to
configure the virtual site for the secure server.

any pointers in how to do this is greatly appreciated.

Do you have a Qube or Qube2? As I remember from Oren's full message, the pkg

That's right but if you look at the subject, I asked about the ORIGINAL
qube, so your response pointing me to the solution for the QUBE2 was
confusing to me.

Yup.

I filter out everything that doesn't have a "Q" on the subject line. =
Saves buckets of time.

I installed mySQL, but in order to get DBI and mysql.pm
working I needed to load the source and rebuild it...

But for the most part I like mySQL and it seams to
work we'll on my RaQ3

rpm --rebuild /home/sites/home/MySQL-3.22.32-1.src.rpm

rpm -Uvh --force /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/MySQL-3.22.32-1.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh --force /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/MySQL-client-3.22.32-1.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh --force /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/MySQL-devel-3.22.32-1.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh --force /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/MySQL-shared-3.22.32-1.i386.rpm

A few days ago, the message is in the archive.
Someone form Cobalt promised to release an installation package for Oracle.
Hope that helps some! I use PostgreSQL as it is already on the RaQ.

You can set them up through the GUI, whithout any problems, just like
another
site. Instead of "www" you just need to give another host/subdomain name.
You
can also use the same IP for all subdomains if you would like to.
