I had the exact same thing happen when I added
the dnsbl list... it was
on the weekend though so I didn't get around to
checking loads at the time
of failure. It only happened twice before I had
to revert to the
original sendmail. I tested smtp by sending mail
to myself
and it worked OK but on Monday when users tried
sending mail
to anybody but themselves, they got a relaying
denied message
citing the recieving address (!) as failing the
IP lookup (pop b4 SMTP).
Anyway, all that to say, the problem disappeared
after I reverted. I
definately do not have any unkown heavy processes
running (99%idle) so
I would love to know if getting rid of that
unkown httpd
solves your problem. Please keep me updated.
