I had this same prob, which the rebooting after an earlier All-Kernel
update. I tracked it down to RAID1 issues and a failing HD. Replaced the
drive, and the rebooting prob stopped. This type of issue was a well-known
prob some updates ago.

You may have a bad fan. I believe that if the CPU temperature goes up too
high, the 550 will auto-reboot.
Sounds like active monitor is checking the temp, seeing that it is too high
and rebooting the box.
You can check the temp yourself via:
cat /proc/cpuinfo
Mine is 46 degrees.
To check fan information it's:
cat /proc/faninfo
Mine looks like this:
fan 0 : 0
fan 1 : 9600
fan 2 : 9900
fan 3 : 9900
fan 4 : 0
