2> on the other 2 machines, I was told that the OS load apparently did not take correctly as a few other things had not been acting right on those two serves anyway. So an OS reload is currently taking place. That should solve the problems.. I did find out that the two machines that the OS did not load correctly on were actually raq 3 hardware not raq 4 as I had thought..

Bill I had the same problem about POP3 working but sending not working. Make sure the domain name is in the "Relay for the following Hosts/Domains" in the E-Mail server settings.
