RE: [cobalt-users] [550] Custom OSRCD too large

Gerald et al., removing the nfsroot-x86/bto-sync/toold directory worked
perfectly. My custom OSRCD ended up at about 690 Mb with 49 package updates
included. The only one that didn't install was the infamous 16622 Apache
update which I purposefully did not include in the OSRCD.

I used the Sun-provided OSRCD to begin the restore, and when it was done,
net booted the RaQ 550 with the custom OSRCD. I had to answer Yes to the
question about erasing the drives with both CDs. Since the ROM is current,
it looks like all I need to do is use the custom OSRCD and skip using the
Sun disk.

The best news is instead of sitting at my desktop for hours manually
clicking each package and waiting for each to install, it took 30 minutes
for the custom OSRCD to install all 49 updates, completely unattended.

Thanks!

Tom

this removes the ROM utilities, so use the regular CD with the tools
directory to upgrade the ROM, when you get the prompt for "power down"
reboot the PC using the CD without ROM utilities, but does have the
patches.
