The actual type of connection you have won't matter. If you were
sufficiently creative, you could host a site on a Apple II connected via the
serial port (which someone recently did).
Basically the issue is your bandwidth provider. Things you are going to
need:
-Gaurenteed Quality of Service (meaning they don't sell you a 1MB connection
and you only experience 256k on a good day)
-Static IPs (can't have dynamic)
-You're going to need to have them be able to do reverse DNS for you
-Decently configurable router (like the Cisco 675)
-Firewall probably
-Qualified support staff at the ISP (and their pager numbers)
This means you're pretty much going to have to go with a commercial ISP that
offers DSL services, such as:
-USWest.net Business Services (in my neck of the woods)
-Verio
-Saavis
You will probably be spending on the order of $100-$200 for this level of
access per month, plus telco fees.
Since your probably in Texas, Verio is probably your best bet.
