You can put them anywhere you want ... /tmp, or /root, or ~admin. Once you
have extracted the .tar.gz files, you can delete them. Once you have
installed (rpm -i) the .rpm files, you can delete them.

When you untar mysql (don't get 3.22.27, it's old :-), it will automatically
create the mysql-3.22.32 directory for you, inside the current directory.
