When doing a new install of mySQL and PHP ... Where should one typically put
the Tar and RPM files on the server before running them? Do you make a
temporary directory... move the files to that temporary directory... Un Tar
them... Or RPM them. What happens after you extract them??
For instance in Paul's documents it says to download the files. Then unzip
them... Then remove the tar... So I am assuming that one is to create a
directory first called mysql-3.22.27 place the file in that directory and
untar it? Where should one create this directory? Or do you just need to
download the file to the server untar the file and it creates the directory
in the appropriate place?
What about RPM's.. Should they be stored in a specific spot before running
them? If so where? Do you remove the RPM file after running it?
Thanks
Jim
