Years ago I wrote a treatise for Compuserve on style differences between
extemporaneous communication such as forums, newsgroups and email, and
communication meant to be archived, such as short stories, novels,
articles, columns, and even newspaper articles. I said then, and I
still believe now, that such niceties as spelling and grammar are not as
important in the former as in the latter.
That said, I recently switched back from Eudora to Netscape for my list
mail, and I neglected to turn on the spelling checker. Let's see if it
helps <smile>.
When I write for the knowledge base I will either proofread or have
someone else proofread.
