I've always said (probably only almost always, but you get the idea <smile>): "Except when appropriate."
It is appropriate when you're replying to an entire post in general, and need the entire post to make your point.
But at that time, note that I cut the original after only a few lines, so the sender and other interested parties will know what I'm writing about, but will nevertheless not waste bandwidth, disk space, etc.
Your point is well taken. There is one other list that I subscribe to that abhors even this particular use of the practice of top-posting. And I never post to the top of that list. Do you really need me to treat this list as "special" too <smile>?
