Re: [cobalt-users] chilisoft.com ASP

The main reason i asked was because some clients are always asking if i

Thanks again

Snag a copy of Cathedral and the Bazaar from O'reily and Associates--best
$12 you'll ever spend. After reading that book, I haven't been able to
deploy a closed-source solution to any mission critical product.

But if that's not a big deal to you, I'll let you know what I think of the
product from a developer standpoint. I am not a big fan of ASP--I think
from a developer standpoint its really hard to like. The language is
confusing (with both Jscript and VBscript) and I find it rather difficult to
build powerful web applications with it. And you run into stability issues
with IIS, NT, etc. These are some of my problems with ASP in general.

Now Chilisoft is making this ASP on linux solution--a hack of a hack, IMHO.
I would be concerned about lagging feature support, etc. I'd also be
worried about getting 'stuck' with a non-upgradable, abandoned product. I
would be much more comfortable with it if it was open source--insuring the
long-term future of the product.
