I've posted the same problem and question to the list several times. 
I've tried aliasing @domain.com and @www.domain.com.  No luck.  I get an
error in the GUI saying the address is illegal.  I also cannot get the
forwarding to work from the GUI. I have to telnet in as Root and "VI"
the etc/aliases file to get forwarding to work to an outside
domain.(Thanks to Mark Spieth) Which works until you do an update with
the GUI.  After you do an update you have to go back in and redo all the
manual changes.
Frustrating...
