Does anyone know if it possible to give a client personal nameservers on
my RAQ?
I know...<smile>
I currently have ns0.myname.co.uk & ns1.myname.co.uk and have created A
records so
ns0.hisname.co.uk & ns1.hisname.co.uk point to my nameservers.
Good step.
This is fine for registering UK domains and works great, but I can't
register any .com names as the registrars I have tried all come
back with "Invalid Nameservers"
That's because .com, .org, and .net (as well as other) domains require that
nameservers be registered with the same registrar that holds the domain
registration (often, but not always, Network Solutions), as nameservers.
You need to create host records for nameservers. See your registrar for
information on how to do that.
Each nameserver MUST have a unique IP#; so you'll need multiple IP#s on
those systems.
The IP#s can be used for anything else on the RaQ as well, even from
another domain.
But each name-server must be registered. And have a unique IP# (where
unique means not being used by any other registered nameserver).
As long as .uk nameservers aren't registered as such, you could use the
same IP# for .com/.org/.net nameservers.
