[cobalt-users] Weird messages in /var/log/messages - RaQ2

A server of ours keeps going down on a daily basis, each morning and we are
seeing this in the /var/log/messages file:

Feb 24 17:15:08 pootle in.qpopper[12392]: (v2.53) Unable to get canonical
name of client, err = 2
Feb 24 17:16:08 pootle proftpd[12407]: FTP session closed.
Feb 24 17:30:06 pootle proftpd[12660]: FTP session closed.
Feb 24 17:40:18 pootle -- MARK --
Feb 24 17:46:06 pootle proftpd[12900]: FTP session closed.
Feb 24 18:00:06 pootle proftpd[13147]: FTP session closed.
Feb 24 18:15:06 pootle proftpd[13376]: FTP session closed.
Feb 24 18:30:06 pootle proftpd[13594]: FTP session closed.
Feb 24 18:40:18 pootle -- MARK --

The whole 'messages' file is full of this. This has only happened since
Cobalt addressed an issue with our 'messages' file being flooded with IPX
and atalk messages. We have unfortunately not received a response on this
from them and would really appreciate any thoughts on what the above is?
This 'MARK' thing has us really puzzled. Could this possibly be bringing our
server down? It will only respond in telnet and restarting each process
individually does not seem to get it going again and we end up having to
reboot the whole system.

Thanks,
Ali & Charlie
