[cobalt-users] Using a Cobalt to NFS-mount from a NetApp

Hi,

I'm struggling to mount an NFS directory exported
from a NetApp with a Cobalt RaQ3. The directory
concerned has been successfully mounted by some
Solaris machines with a similar configuration to the
Cobalt RaQ3 with which I'm having trouble. The
NetApp (NFS server) concerned is located on a
separate subnet.

It seems to be a permission problem: On both
the Solaris boxes and the Cobalts, I have setup
a user with a particular UID - it is files for this
UID I wish to access. The exported directory
on the NetApp is owned by this UID, with
permissions rwx------, as are all subdirectories and
files. When I add r (read) access for group and other,
I can see the files. But that destroys the object of
restricting rights to the mounted system.

I've double and triple checked that the UID is the same
on the Solaris boxes and on the Linux boxes, but I still
can't see what's going wrong - why should it work on
Solaris and not on Linux (Cobalt).

Any help on this is particularly welcome.

cheers,

Andrew Richards.
