 it will answer both questions, having said that, you probably don't
wan to do either, it takes longer to allocate a new swap block
than to recycle an existing one, so resetting the swap will just
make the machine slower (this isn't windows;)

Don't confuse cache with swap ;0

if it's there, it's being used....leaving stuff swapped out
leaves more real memory available for fast use when new programs
start, the system doesn't have to rush around freeing up ram...
