OK - no laughing.
Last night, I was encountering problems with a FrontPage site on my RAQ2
(updated with FP2000 ext). I turned the extensions off via the browser
management of the Cobalt server, saved it, and then turned them back on.
That's when everything went pieces on my site.
For whatever reason, taking this step reset all the ownership of every
single directory (and associated files) within this site to httpd. I am
running cgi scripts on this site, and when this happened, the whole site
went down.
The scripts generate category directories (they create a search engine) and
the html code for it. In trying to get the site back up (I was at it until
4:00 a.m. CST), I changed ALL directory ownerships (and associated files) to
my user name "bfuller". I then went back and changed the obvious FP
directories and files (anything that started with "_") to httpd.
Everything appeared to come back up at that point. I have now encountered
two problems I need help with - being fairly new to Linux I have no idea
where to start.
1. I try to login to the Cobalt server via the browser and it no longer
recognizes my password to allow me to get in to administrate it or any of
the other sites. (I can, however, reach the sites via FTP and can Telnet
into the server.
2. I can no longer "publish" FP webs to the site where all the ownerships
had changed. I am sure it is still an ownership problem - I just don't know
what to change.
Any help asap would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
