[cobalt-users] RaQ3 e-mail troubles

Fellow listees:
More e-mail troubles ... impossible! It seems I am the exception to this
rule though. Thankfully for the RaQ's sake it is located in a colo facility
20 miles from here (otherwise it might not be functioning at the moment).
Here is the problem I am having: I get none of the e-mail that is sent to
the RaQ. I get this strange error message in the admin's mailbox (it is
also forwarded back to me):
----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
<jslucido@xxxxxxxx>
----- Transcript of session follows -----
553 mail.j2media.net. config error: mail loops back to me (MX problem?)
554 <jslucido@xxxxxxxx>... Local configuration error
Reporting-MTA: dns; senna.j2media.net
Here is how I set things up:
1. Made an A name record all domains (no PTR's since the domains are
virtual sites on a shared IP).
2. Made a MX for the domain pointing to mail.j2media.net.
3. Made an A name record for mail.j2media.net pointing to the same IP
number as the virtual site.
4. Created a new virtual site www.j2dm.com.
4. Edited httpd.conf to add extra ServerAliases (for additional domains
pointing to the same virtual site).
5. Edited sendmail.cw with the additional domain names to accept mail for
(i.e. the domain names not set-up as virtual sites, rather "pointers").
6. Edited Virtusertable as follows:
jslucido@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx jslucido
@mail.j2media.net jslucido
# accept-email-at-domain routes
@j2digitalmedia.com %1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
@j2digitalmedia.net %1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
@j2dm.com %1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
@j2dm.net %1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
@j2media.com %1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
@j2media.net %1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
@j2mc.com %1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
@j2mc.net %1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
After I makehas the virtusertable, restart Bind and Sendmail I sent a few
test e-mails to the server. All of them were bounced. The thing that
perplexes me is this is the EXACT same way I did the set-up on my RaQ2 and
it works beautifully on that machine. No dice on the RaQ3.
I did one last thing ... called tech support. No answer for free. Will fix
for $200. (Yeah right!)
<begging type="pleading on knees">If anyone can help with this problem I
would be greatly appreciative</begging>
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
