Subject: [cobalt-users] smtp
question
I have a Raq2. Does anyone know of
enhancements to the smtp server so that when one of my users wants to send
mail (eg, relay thru the smtp server), it does an authentication (password
logon), rather than the current method that requires me to preconfigure the
sending IP addresses in the mail server? The reason I ask is that for
people who use dialup to access the net via a large, national isp (such as
AOL, worldnet, msn, etc), their IP addresses are dynamically assigned and the
range is very large -- and I don't want to open up my smtp server to anyone
who uses that ISP. I am aware that some of these ISP's also have
smtp servers which could be used when dialed into their network, but that
requires each user to reconfigure his client depending on whether he's dialed
in or not (not very nice for laptop users).
Thanks,
Brad
