    OK, was able to do that

> then goto IP Address and add an "A" record for 'www' using the same

    OK, was abel to do that as well

 then edit the MX record and point it to www.domain.com

    Did that as well - but isn't this making www.domain.com perform a
function for me that I have not arranged for?  Sounds like I am designating
their system to handle email for me without paying for it.  I have the
equipment to do that here if I can set it up right.
    I made all the changes you suggested though.  It will of course be
several hours before it takes effect.
