That is the active monitor making sure that the IMAP port is working.
Basically it is connecting to port 143 (the imap port) and see it if responds.
You can to the same thing yourself by doing the following:

telnet localhost 143 (while your on the machine).  YOu should also be
seeing something simular in for sendmail also.
