It is not that telnet is that insecure. It is the people who use it. It's 
like the risk of parking your car on the street. 99.999% of the time when 
you return, it's just as you left it. The other .001% of the time, 
well... another car could have brake failure and use the side of your car 
to slow it down. Or some loser would break your window for your radio. If 
you don't park your car on the street, but instead, park in a garage, you 
will lower (but not eliminate) the odds of bad things happening to your 
car. You just have to weight the benefits vs. the risks involved.
