Ok,
In my quest to figure out why "Dial on Demand" and "Permanently Connected"
are the same on my Qube, I did the following:
1) Turned off everything on my network. Qube, printers, computers, switch.
2) Turned on switch. Booted Qube.
3) Waited 1 hr. Qube did not dial in.
4) Turned on HP LJ 8000DN.
5) Qube dialed in.
Why? Is the LJ somehow sending off packets while it is advertising itself on
the network that trigger the Qube to dial? Is there some setting where I can
tell the Qube to ignore certain types of packets?
The LJ has only AppleTalk and TCP/IP turned on.
The Qube only has AppleShare turned on in addition to the mandatory
services.
The current solution is to have my clients turn the modem off at night and
back on in the morning. Not ideal.
Best regards,
Mike Paci
