I'm waiting for the Maxtor Diamond Plus 40 to hit store shelves... a KILLER
drive. Check htp://www.storagereview.com for more info on it and many other
hard drives.

That said - here's how I replaced the 4.3gb drive in my Qube2 (in a
nutshell):

1. Never booted original drive.
2. Ghosted original drive to new Maxtor 27gb drive {now have boot blocks on
new drive)
3. Booted (SuSE) Linux with both new and old Qube2 drives also attached
4. Deleted partitions on new drive
5. Created new partitions on new drive with fdisk
          / = 1gb
          /var = 500mb
          /swap = 135mb
          /home = 26gb (give or take)
6. Copied the contents of each partition from the original Qube2 drive to
the corresponding partition on the new drive. used cp -a
7. Shut down system, removed original Qube2 drive and stored in anti-static
bag
8. Installed new 27gb drive in Qube2.
9. Boot the Qube2 :-)

Is there an easier way? Possibly. The above definately works. I plan to
replace the current (5400rpm 27.3gb drive) with a new Maxtor Diamond Plus 40
(7200rpm 30gb drive) when they are available... very soon, I'm told.

Reminder: Linux 2.0.x has a 32gb hard disk limit. Otherwise, there's a
40gb version of the same killer drive...

No idea how this applies to Raq's, but I'll bet it's similar...

Happy Qubeing,

Doug
