If you brand new to PHP and MYSQL, the two best books I have found are:
Building Database Applications on the Web Using PHP3 & MySQL (Other New
Riders.) I think both together off amazon cost about 80 bucks. The PHP
book is about 189 pages of 8 tutorials that get you off the ground and
give you a really good understanding of PHP. THe other 500 or so pages are
syntax, etc. (But also have real world examples, so not just snippets of
code.)
The MySQL book gets you going from no-idea to really-good-grasp in about
80 pages. By far, it is the best book on the market for MySQL.
