RE: [cobalt-users] max DNS entries on Raq2



There's no real limitations of BIND (the DNS sofware running on the RaQ's)
and as long as you have sufficient memory for your server (I'm not talking
loads here) you'll be fine.

However I don't know about any limitations the RaQ2 GUI itself may have.
Probably very high BUT the more sites you put into it, the slower it will
go... since it uses a single "records" file for it's database and creates
all zone files all over again all the time.

Like a lot of people I've chosen to use the manual method of which I'm more
familiar and edit /etc/named.conf etc manually (and never use GUI) and it
works fine for me. I've got over 750 domains in one RaQ2 for DNS only with
128Mb RAM with light web usage and she doesn't even blink.

we have about 70 sites and the raq is running smoothly.

how many sites is considered "large"
