My other question is for an email program. I hate windows and Microsoft!, but I must say that outlook and it's ability to sync with a server is great. Everything is kept in one place etc. I know that this is the purpose of IMAP, but what I don't want to do is have to reconfigure mail programs everywhere I go. I know there are things like IMP, are there any else? and will any of these sync with a program such as outlook? How about handing contacts and calendar items?
Microsoft makes a wonder <sic> server that'll work fine with Outlook and Outlook Express. It's called Exchange. Of course it's expensive, and doesn't really comply with major Internet-standards RFCs. And it runs on Windows NT (and maybe even on Windows 2000, though I'm not sure). It doesn't run on your RaQ, of course, which is quite fortunate, considering what a resource hog it is.
As far as selecting a good client to work with the POP3 and IMAP standards we've got... that's another story, another question, and one to which I unfortunately have no answer. But, fortunately, it's a topic for a different list.
