Re: [cobalt-users] ETRN & FEATURE(mailertable)

Thank you, Duncan. I was going to try that one; but I saw the "hacked together" lines at the top of /etc/sendmail.cf file, so I was afraid.

Now that I know I'm dealing with the source (you <smile>) I'll definitely do it.

I will notify you of any problems. I'm quite familiar with Sendmail/Majordomo; I've been supplying email-list services on the Internet since 1994 <smile>.

ETRN is pretty simple; it doesn't require anything but the mailertable; it requires mailertable because otherwise sendmail will use dns MX records and go into a loop <frown>.

I will take your suggestions, and advise when done <smile>.

Did you notice you've spelled your first name wrong in your MUA <smile>?

And, oh, I've got a lot more of my own aliases files than just /etc/aliases.majordomo. I've got aliases.local for aliases I maintain independtly of the RaQ's web-based interface, and aliases.xxxxx for a few different majordomo implementations; I run multiple majordomo with actual complete multiple setups; there are some serious gotcha's involved in using the majordomo documented method of multiple configuration tables, not to mention the rather complex alises it requires.

The .mc file can be found at /usr/lib/sendmail-cf/redhat.mc. You can re-build the sendmail.cf file from this source by:

cd /usr/lib/sendmail-cf
/usr/bin/m4 redhat.mc >> /root/sendmail.cf.new

but be careful because any custom changes will be lost. i'd suggest running a diff on your current /etc/sendmail.cf before overwriting it. the line certain to be missing from the newly created .cf file is:

O AliasFile=/etc/aliases.majordomo

which will completely break majordomo if it is missing. sorry, but i don't know any specifics related to ETRN on the raq2, but it should be no problem to add the FEATURE(mailertable) line and re-build the configuration to find out. please let us know the results if you do try it.
