I suppose I should apologize for the "experienced systems administrators" 
remark, though I really thought I explained myself well with my 
"auto-mechanic" analogy.

So in the interests of keeping the piece, let me apologize now to anyone 
who thought I was being pompous while I thought I was simply pointing out 
why my previous post, which obviously didn't go into enough detail for some 
people, was merely targeted to the wrong audience.

I really do apologize; I really want to keep the peace on this list.

(I believe you're referring to my post; it's hard to tell, since your 
Microsoft-based email client has mangled some message headers making it 
hard for me to be sure <frown>.)
