[cobalt-users] RAQ2 DNS problem - Sendmail?

Desperation is setting in so if anyone has any bright ideas I would surely 
love to hear them.

1) I have set up a virtual account on its own IP
2) I am doing the DNS for the account on my RAQ2
3) The DNS works fine in every aspect except one.

a) Email sent to the account directly (ie via an email client) gets 
through - no problem
b) Email sent from sendmail (ie via a script on another server which uses 
sendmail) 

- gets through OK if the version of sendmail on the server sending the 
email is 8.8.7
- does NOT get through if the version of sendmail on the server sending 
the email is 8.9.3. Nor does it bounce back - it just seems to disappear

It has to be something that I have done wrong setting up the DNS because 
email sent from the same server (ie 8.9.3 sendmail) gets through OK to my 
RAQ2 for accounts where the DNS is being done by my hosting company.

The DNS record comprises:

domainname > IP No (A Record)
www.domainanme . IP No. (A Record)
IP No > domainname (PTR Record)
domainname > www.domainname (MX Record)

If anyone can come up with any idea what is wrong I would be eternally 
grateful
