If you're willing to install PHP and possibly MySQL, IMP and TWIG are both 
excellent open-source mail clients. TWIG includes a bunch of other stuff like 
shared calendars, bookmark lists, and task lists as well.

The nice part is that outside of your time, they're completely free and having 
the source code makes it easy to customize. Also, using PHP means they're a LOT  
faster than CGIs and scale significantly better.
