RE: [cobalt-users] Webbased Email

A nice FREE Web based mail company is www.bigmailbox.com for users on my
server that don't have web pages the log on to their server via a frame.
This gives me the following.

owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxx My server and
owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx the Web Mail Server.

If you want to see it, it's working on my site. www.Worldcops.com look under
free web mail.

They have an option to use an MX record to point to their server. It is
supposed to do this:

owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxx sends mail to your server, the MX record is supposed to
send it their server, if the user is not found then it sends it back to your
servers mail host.
Both emails are supposed to be the same, POP3 and the Web based email. If
you use a POP3 client to your server for those that have POP3 it can
retrieve mail as any other POP3 server on port 110. If you use the web based
email HTML page on your site, it will download the mail like yahoo's mail. I
hope I explained this ok?

The problem however for me, is I never had the time to figure out the proper
settings. So I gave up. If anyone wants to try it out? Please let me know
how it works.

The only other drawback is you are allowed to put your own banner adds on
the first page only. They put there banners up after the first page. Some of
the Banners may be your competition.

Unless you can generate lots of traffic to the page and sell ad space, IMO,
it's not worth the effort. Tell your customers to sign up for
http://my.yahoo.com/ and read their POP3 mail from http://mail.yahoo.com/
