Clayton,
You tried to help me out the other day, so I'm glad to be able to return
the favor:
To create virtual nameservers, ns.yourclient.com and ns2.yourclient.com
simply do the following:
1) Using the GUI interface, create the virtual domains (ns and
ns2.yourclient.com)
with a uniqe IP address for each
NOTE: I read that you can skip this part, but I've never
omitted it)
2) Create your A records for both the ns and ns2 domain (forward and
reverse records)
3)
4) Save changes and restart the dns server
5) Create the virtual domains that you want to put on this nameserver
(you may use the
IP address of the ns.yourclient.com)
6) Create an NS record for the newclient.com domain as
NS2.yourclient.com
5) Telnet into your server as root and edit the pri.newclient.com
record so that
the second line has ns.yourclient.com. and not the
default (server) ns.yournameserver.com.
NOTE: You must have DNS turned on of course.
Now, finish helping me with my problem (smile). Let me know if you have
any problems.
Thanks,
Tal Bartelle

Subject: [cobalt-users] Phony NS Record?
Hi all,
I have a customer who wants to sell domains. I'd like to facilitate
that. He wants to allow _his_ customers to use "NS1.HISDOMAIN.COM" and
"NS2.HISDOMAIN.COM" as the name servers. Can I simply create a cname
record where NS1.HISDOMAIN.COM -> NS1.MYDOMAIN.COM and
NS2.HISDOMAIN.COM->NS2.MYDOMAIN.COM and actually get his people connected?
That's probably incredibly naive or just plain stupid of me, but....
well, can I do it? If not, how do I set up each Raq2 to have two Name
Servers?
