[cobalt-users] Connection Refused - Email

Thanks everyone, but I'm still in the deep weeds. I've restarted sendmail,
checked MX records (and A), and compared the following files with a clean
box (RaQ2):
     /etc/inetd.conf
     /etc/sendmail.*
     /etc/mail/access and db
     /etc/virtusertable
     and a whole bunch more

I then went back to the Interafce (GUI) and tried to uncheck the ACCEPT
EMail for Domain check box. WHen I clicked Save Changes, I received an
error message that said
INVALID Hostname 208.44.242.63 (This is the main IP of my box and ns
nameserver)

In the interface (GUI) I have the following info listed:
     IP Address = 208.44.242.63
     Hostname = www
     Domain name = bearfruit.com

I think perhaps this is where my problem lays. Can you tell me what script
or file is doing the checking and where it is looking to say that the IP
address is the incorrect hostname. Why won't it let me save this? I
deleted and added back a different domain that is having the same problem
and (yes the bad hostname error still appeared) and still, no email.
Please help if you can.

Thanks again for everyone's help.

It will fall back to the A record if an MX record doesn't exist.

It sounds like sendmail isn't running on that machine. I just tried
to connect to it and it refused my connection. Try restarting
sendmail (/etc/rc.d/init.d/sendmail start) or rebooting the server.
