Hi Cody,
wan't to go on holidays? I can totaly understand your question.
The solution for this problem with our servers (all kind of Linux/NT/Solaris
Stuff) is a "Server Surveillance System" we programmed It's checking all kinds
of services on the different machines from one central computer in our main
office in Munich. If the system encounters some failures (e.g. SMTP-Down on
Server No.7) it immediately sends an alert-message to a pager, cellular phone or
email-account. We work on a extension for genereating Alert-Faxes or directly
calling phones with an automated voice-message.
To be sure, that our surveillance box not just hangs-up - we check this machine
with the same program from one of our co-located webservers.
If your intereste in this, mail me privately,
bye
