OK,
I share your frustration 150%, but the big questions is, If VALINUX have better support. I got the well justify feeling that you may think support is important> I don't think I am wrong here, but again is VALINUX is better. If so, I would buy one box to try and if it is, you can expect to see a lot of boxes get switch very soon.
I will not lie by saying I know everything there is to know about Lynux. It is not so! I do need help or directions. I don't mind the effort, but I need at a minimum gidance and I am looking to see if VALINUX would be better or the same as Cobalt. It is not worth to change 4x quarters for a dollar, but if the support is worth the switch, well...
Who knows!

Well, let me tell you this story. True or false?
There was this company that had normal Unix servers for 3 years, without
much trouble, but the size of the units was the biggest drawback. They saw
this great new product called Cobalt Raq servers. Easy to use and dependable
(?) Well, the first ones had a lot of problems, more than i care to mention.
Well, then came out its big brother (RAQ2) Ah, this has to be a improvement
over the Raq1. Well, to our surprise, it was better in some ways, but still
lacking in being a really 100% dependable machine. Well Cobalt says to
themselves, lets forget the Raq1 and just work on the Raq2 and the new
bigger brother, the RAQ3. With our IPO, we can now afford to make more
products and more development on new products. But the little guy in the
back room says, what about all of the people who have the raq1 and raq2?
Silence is all he heard. He then says, now we can afford to give better
support to the people who made us what we are. Silence is all he heard. So,
as the story goes now, Call the support line, get a answering machine and no
return call. Send a email to support and they say we will respond in 24
hours. Sometimes i wonder, how do they measure a hour.
Meanwhile the normal Intel servers, that have been running for 4 years,
continues to run, with less than 12 hours downtime, and hardly any troubles
at all.
Of course, we all know this is only partially true, but, i will never
say which is which.
I hope no one gets mad about this email, but i had to speak my peace, after
giving cobalt support great words in the past, but, that was the past, and
it does not look like it will return to those days.
