Try to reset the CHMOD via telnet. It sounds like it's not 777.

Hello,

I have created a directory under a cgi directory, and I set the permission
of this directory to 777. However after I set, I cannot set it back or get
in, and it show Permission Denied message , except I login to as root. Can
anyone help me with this. Thank You !
