We use two applications. The first is a freebie called commerce.cgi. There
is a version available that you can connect to authorizenet with if that
is your merchant solution. For a small site (under 100 products) the
software has proven to be great. A lot of on-line support and the code is
very modifiable. If you know a little bit of cgi, this is a great solution
for putting an e-com site up in under a day.
The second solution we use is PDGCart (www.pdgsoft.com) Which has proven
to be very nice. It runs on cgi, but the front end is driven by templates
which are basic HTML with special tags. You can modify the hell out of the
templates or actually use hard links from products (say you have a
"special" and you want to throw it on your front page, just do a HREF to
the pdg script and wallah!) The other huge thing about PDG is that they
have technical support for life! If you are a novice at cgi or working on
your own box, with the purchase of the software they will install it, test
it, and help you through any problems. Every time I have called, a LIVE
human answeres the phone and has helped with problems. They even upgrade
for free. Go to their site, download the software (free for 30 days) and
in about a week, a 200 page manual comes in the mail. (Free also.) We have
purchased 4 of these carts so far. The cost varies, just talk to Rafie,
the sales guy.
and no, I am not a reseller or anything, I just like the software and the
support that comes with it.
