Re: [cobalt-users] Majordomo revisited <frown>

Thanks for writing, Bjarke...

Do you use majordomo for your own lists, created outside of the RaQ interface?

Do you allow people to subscribe and unsubscribe by sending email either to <majordomo@xxxxxxxxxx> or to <listname-request@xxxxxxxxxx>?

These are functionalities I must have (because we resell majordomo services).

Before I changed the directory permissions to 775, I got the following error:

shlock: '/usr/local/majordomo/lists' is not writable by UID 8 GID 12

Afterwards, I got the following error:

chown(110, 2, "/usr/local/majordomo/lists/test.new"): Operation not permitted

when trying an unsubscribe. Since I never got beyond there in my testing, I don't know if that's all that has to be fixed or not <frown>.

The problem seems to be that majordomo is running as one user but permissions are set by another.

I need to fix the problem asap; I'll probably just do another complete majordomo install under a different directory structure and set it up with the proper permissions; that should work.

But of course anything you can help me with will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Jeff

Dear Jeff,

Just to tell you. We have used the Majodomo on our main RaQ for at least 4 months. It works
as expected.

Please mail the errors you received.

BTW. Take a look at Majorcool. http://ncrinfo.ncr.com/pub/contrib/unix/MajorCool/. Web
interface to Majordomo.
