My Outlook 98 did that once upon a time. Turned out to be a corrupt
installation. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it (or I might have
reinstalled the whole machine - I do that a lot!) and it worked again on all
OLD e-mails too.

I now have Outlook 2000 and haven't had any problems with the new mail list.

It's not every message in the list. Only occasional ones. It was more
frequent when the list first switched to the new format.
