[cobalt-users] password protect

I have a Raq2 and a customer of mine wants to password protect some of his
directorys

yet he has the script in his cgi-bin and cant get it to do the protection
for the directory

can someone give me some general directions on what to do on helping him and
future users on the .htaccess and password protection
