[cobalt-users] Switching from MySQL to PostGreSQL

Hi,

3 Questions:

------------------------------------------------------------
1) How would I go about uninstalling MySQL on a RAQ2? There are no uninstall scripts in /var/lib/cobalt/uninstallers/ and there seems to be a lot of MySQL files in various places on the server. I used the RMPs from Cobalt's site to install MySQL (and PHP which I want to keep!).

------------------------------------------------------------
2) There is no readme file for the PostGreSQL RPMs on Cobalt's site - anybody know the steps I'd need to take to install them?

In ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com//pub/experimental/ I see these files:

postgresql-6.3.2-4.mips.rpm
postgresql-clients-6.3.2-4.mips.rpm
postgresql-data-6.3.2-4.mips.rpm
postgresql-devel-6.3.2-4.mips.rpm

Do I need to install all of them to use PHP + PostGreSQL? Should I install in any particular order?

On PostgreSQL's site I see that the current version is 6.5.3 and they have RPMs for both RedHat 5.2 and 6.x - should I install the RedHat 5.2 version from here instead of the files from Cobalt? Also, PostgreSQL's site doesn't seem to have a postgresql-data file - has this been phased out of the PostGreSQL distribution?

------------------------------------------------------------
3) In MySQL I'm having this problem that you all have been discussing where PI() doesn't work right. Is this problem going to carry over to PostGreSQL? If I'm not doing any calculations with SQL is this still something I should fix? I'm just a little hesitant to install ANYTHING after a couple weeks of reading this list!

Thanks for your advice,
doug
