RE: [cobalt-users] Where are the DNS records on the RAQ2

You can copy/edit the flat file /etc/named/records directly on the RaQ 2.
After copying/editing this file you may rebuild the bind configuration files
by running /usr/admserv/cgi-bin/.cobalt/dns/index.cgi. Be aware that
dns/index.cgi uses quite a bit of RAM (admittedly inefficient) so your
system may start swapping a little while the db files are generated. You
won't break the web user interface by managing records this way.

So, if you can telnet to your broken RaQ2 server and can get this files, it
would be the fastest way to move all your DNS records to a new server. Just
copy your records file from the broken server to the new server and run the
cgi script. This will rebuild all the DNS zone files needed. After that, you
can go back using the web interface if you like.

If you have a spare RAQ, just set the IP addresses of the bad unit on the
new
one and swap the wire from one server to the other.

If you have a good backup, you can do the restore off-line before you swap
cables.
