In the box itself, you type in the text you are searching for, and then
choose whether you want to search in a "Public" area only, or if you want to
search both Public and Private.

So for example, I can search on a user name - Joe Blow lets say - and it
will search some part of the disk (this is one issue I am not clear on) and
return in this case, a link to his home page.

I cannot figure out why the page that was uploaded into a users home
directory does not work against a search. I search on test that is included
on this page, and I get no hits. The difference between this page and the
other users home dirs is that it was the only page that was manually
created, and then FTP'd into the home dir. All other user directories/home
pages were created when the user account was created.
