Once upon a time, Jeff Lasman <blists@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> said: > Thanks for the memory Oddly enough, we came across our Cobalt "True Blue Sapphire Partner" plaque recently. I think we were one of the first ISPs to hit 100 RaQ servers (although we then didn't buy any for a while :-) ). It has been interesting to see the rise and fall of the Cobalt line. When I first saw the original RaQ, I didn't think much of it (I'd been doing Linux-based hosting for a while already and didn't really see the impact of a "plug it in and host" box), but the later models really pulled everything together in a tight package nicely. There really isn't anything on the market that replaces a RaQ550 (not a single product anyway; you can buy a server, an OS, and some software, but it isn't the same). BTW: we are working on getting the RaQ550 release working on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 (I'm trying to do it with as little modification to the base OS as possible, so as to not lose that support, and I'm also trying to build a good clean set of RPMs with proper requirements and such). I'm aiming for just a hosting management system, not a complete OS (i.e. no BlueLinq). I was planning on announcing it on one of these lists when we got close, but I guess I'll have to go find new lists to tell. -- Chris Adams <cmadams@xxxxxxxxxx> Systems and Network Administrator - HiWAAY Internet Services I don't speak for anybody but myself - that's enough trouble.
