Hi Mike,
1.) i never shutdown the MySQL-Server, i just pack the directory. For
redundancy i also do "mysqldump" on all databases. That works fine.
2.) sorry, i don't know.
Hope 1.) helps a bit

Good day,
I have two questions.
1. In case I want to backup a database with over 1 Milion tracing records, I
am running out of memory. At this moment I am doing this by using an export.
My question:
Is it possible to shutdown the mysql server for a minute and copy the
database directory mean time. I did that before on a windows system. For
that reason: Waht is the way to do shutdown (to do it save) and where can I
find that database located on the RAQ4.
2. I want to extend my 256MB to 512MB. Which memory can I use for it????
Regards,
Mike
